Digital Equinox: a confluence of events in the electronic days and
nights of my mind creating a place where my imagination comes to life
and basks in the glow of an eternal equinox. Yeah, it's a bit random
and might not make much sense, but that's what it is.

Well, I know it has been some time since I last posted an update. Well things have been busy these days. I've also been taking a break from 40k miniatures to quickly paint up a Battlefleet Gothic fleet. I'm down to the last three ships and the main 2500 point chunk will be complete. However just saying whats happening isn't exactly the whole reason I'm posting here. I was asked for a tutorial on how I painted up the cruisers for the fleet. Since that will be a relatively lengthy post I've decided to actually use the "read more" feature of my site. So without further ado, please click "read more" for the actual tutorial.

This semester I've been taking a graduate level class on composition in art and as part of the requirements I've had to create a piece using a grid as the primary focal point of the composition. Given my love for all things Egyptian, I decided to go ahead and take some recognizable elements of the ancient culture and "digitize" them using pieces of Plexiglas and paint to color the "pixels." To start with I used larger blocks to represent less detailed and background elements and worked up to smaller darker blocks to abstract the "lines" of the Udjat eye. In this way I'm hoping to create the grid in three dimensions and maintain the original symbol as a subconscious element or one which defines itself if the title or background material is known.

Yeah, I guess I'm still around. Not that anyone actually reads this anymore but just in case I thought an explanation was at least in order. The last few months have been quite the trip. It seems that this little thing called Love has come to call and cupid got shot down by Zeus as he let fly his dart. Well that over with, I can say that God has had a plan in it all and it's worked out in his time. As of nearly a month, I've been dating someone I consider to be the most awesome girl in the world. After reading that last line you might find the title of this little post a little odd, but it does have reason! While the last couple of months have been somewhat confusing to say the least, I can say now that I'm not confused in the head anymore. Here's to many more wonderful months, days, and years with you Tesh!

I'll admit I've managed to be caught up with the little plastic people and slightly abnormal human following of tabletop wargaming. In the past several months I've managed to start writing back story, come up with color schemes, and actually get around to painting a few of the little guys. Of course given the amount of time thats currently going into painting them, this hobby should last me for a fairly long period of time. I guess it's just fun to paint the figures, as for the game itself, who knows. I may end up playing or I might just paint. Will have to see after I get enough together to actually play. So yeah, thats my new hobby and the one that I seem to be throwing a ton of time into.

Haven't posted on the blog in ages, so I'm going to make a few updates today. If you haven't already tried it, get Portal from Valve. It's one of the most awesome games I've played in ages. Full of good puzzles, challenges, and tons of humor I'd had much fun while playing through. Now if only fan made maps could be used. This game is short but is screams for more content. Follow that up with Half Life episode 2, and well you have quite a bit of time wasting to do. Still it didn't quite capture me in the same way that portal did. (image complements of Wikipedia) I think one of the best bits is the Companion Cube. The whole humor of dragging around a white box with a heart on it and actually needing it for the puzzles was great. Combine that with the endearing innocence of the automated turrets and veiled evil of GlaDOS and you have quite a game going. Now to get back to those achievements...
